Laura Robson’s excellent winning streak came to an end today with Estonia’s Maret Ani ending her hopes of winning the LTA tournament in Shrewsbury. Laura put up a good fight to come back and win the second set, but Ani dominated the third and final set to eventually win 6-2 3-6 6-0. Maret Ani will go on to play Roberta Vinci of Italy in the final. Laura needs to play just one more professional tournament now to get a world ranking - we’ll be sure to keep you up to date with news on her progress.
Laura is still going strong in the Shrewsbury $75k. Tonight she defeated her Israeli opponent Tzipi Obziler, seeded 4th, in just over an hour, winning 6-3 6-3.
Robson said: “I am very pleased with the way I played. “My coach Martijn Bok and I talked through the game plan before I went on and it obviously worked.
Unseeded Robson will be up against #2 seed Maret Ani from Estonia in the semi-final.
Laura Robson is through to the quarter finals at Shrewsbury, her second tournament this year, with a great win over Urszula Radwanska of Poland, 6-3 6-3, earlier tonight.
Laura will go on to play #4 seed Tzipi Obziler of Israel in the quarter finals. Prize money for the tournament stands at $75,000.
Laura will need to play one more tournament after this one to obtain a world ranking.

Laura Robson marked her first senior match in her home country today with a win over British number eight Sarah Borwell 7-6 (7-4) 2-6 6-3 at the LTA tournament in Shrewsbury.

Some unfortunate news for Robson fans… Laura has been forced to pull out of her second-round match against Marina Melnikova of Russia at the $10,000 Limoges tournament in France with a shoulder injury. She was 2-4 down in the first set.
Laura has made a great start to the $10,000 challenger at Limoges, winning her first match of the main draw. She beat Italy’s Alice Balducci of Italy 6-7 7-5 6-4 and will go on to play #2 seed Marina Melnikova of Russia in the second round.
Laura made her debut on the adult women’s tour this week in France. Laura is playing the $10,000 event in Limoges, France and has qualified for the main draw by first defeating Anna Naumova of Ukraine 6-1 6-3, then followed that up with an impressive win over #2 seed Alize Lim of France 6-2 6-0.
Laura will play Alice Balducci of Italy in her first proper match in the main draw of the tournament.
