Laura Robson is getting ready for her third professional tournament tomorrow. She’ll be playing in Devon for the Barnstaple Open. This being her third tournament means she’ll earn a world ranking after completing it. Already she is projected to get in the top 600, and could even get into the top 500 should she reach the quarter finals or better.

Her first opponent will be Angelique Kerber, a 20-year-old German from Bremen who is seeded 7th for the tournament and currently ranks #143 in the world and was ranked as high as #67 last year.

Prize money for the Barnstaple Open is around £30,000. Not quite as much as the £42,000 that was on offer in Shrewsbury earlier this month but still a useful amount of money for the winner.

Let’s hope Laura can do as well as, or even better, in this one than she did in Shrewsbury!
